I don’t think you need a lot of time here in the spring or summer because a few of the tours don’t operate but it’s still worth visiting. Beautiful pristine area that reminds you of the beauty of nature.

The town lives in the shadow of Santa Claus Village but is worth sightseeing for itself. The modern architecture, the Arcticum museum, good infrastructure, nice surroundings - there is much to see and do for a couple of days.

A nice town at the arctic circle, museums, sporting facilities, theatre, shopping malls, reastaurants, hotels. It has an airport connected with Helsinki, Dublin, Brusseles (and perhaps more).
There is a whole village dedicated to the Santa Claus theme.
There are buildings made from ice during the winter, some hotels and wedding-places among them.

Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit.
Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit. In winter the city is under a lot of snow but has always trucks to get the snow out of the road, small rocks on the pavement to prevent from falling.
Rovaniemi has a lot of green tracks and its is lovely to follow them along the river. Great places for children to play too.
For dinner time, I can recommend the MonteRosa restaurant in the city center. Great and friendly service from all the employees, excellent food and drinks. (I can recommend the salmon soup, the grilled salmon and the reindeer cooked two ways).
For lunch, I went to Cafe & Bar 21. It was busy from 12 to 15 (I guess very popular) but nonetheless very enjoyable. Combining the bar/coffee with Yuca (a mexican restaurant) is great because people can have different lunch if wished. The deserts are also excellent.
For the activities, everybody can found something that they like. For the french people you can found the Nordic Odyssey office to book activities with a french translator (even if the english explanation I had where really understanding). It can always be helpful for the people who can't speak english.
You can found supermarket everywhere and some of them are open until 22:00 which is great.

Santa from the city center was better than the one in SCV (at least for us). He was really communicative, giving us tips and tricks for aurora hunting. After we bought a picture we could take more with our own phone, made videos for our friends etc.
We love that there are different places where you can barbeque during the walking.
Lake from Artikum museum is a good place to see aurora. Loved the winter trails.
Souvenirs are cheaper in SCV than in the city center.
The hotel was brilliant, in the centre of Rovaniemi, everything literally in front of the hotel, buses to Santa Village and Airport are 5 min away, shopping mall the same, great coffee shop across the street and 24/7 shop. The sauna was empty when we went up although they do have designed hours when you can use it depending if you are male or female. Breakfast had loads of options and there is also a restaurant and a bar/grill on the hotel premises both had fantastic food. Would definitely come back if ever in Rovaniemi again.
The hotel in near the main street of Rovaniemi. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the restaurants and shops. The family room is not big. The toilet is small, with a small washing basin. The kitchen is large with a sofa and table. You can make food. The breakfast is simple and nice. There is a large place between the main house and the villas. Easy for parking cars. Overall, the hotel is nice for the price. Because the hotels in the downtown are more expensive, this hotel is a good choice to stay to save some money.
The host was very kind. He picked us up at the train station and gave us a small tour of the city by car, showing us the spots for the northern lights, the attractions that Rovaniemi has to offer, the restaurant where you can try typical food etc... He kept to be in contact with us to know if we needed any help and gave us more useful info.
Overall our stay exceeded our expectations and we were mostly delighted by the kindness of the host. 100% recommended.
it’s a beautiful experience to stay in Santa’s village, to overnight in a glass house, it’s definitely special. Expensive but the emotions you get from it worth it. And we were lucky on the night we stayed in this glass hotel we saw Northen Light right there right above us! it was fast but beautiful and magical. the restaurant is also nice and girls who work there on the lobby and restaurant are very friendly. Breakfast is fantastic and dinner too!
Excellent location for going into Rovaniemi and access to Santa Village and attractions. Great for kids too as sledging and park opposite. Excellent facilities for washing and drying clothes too. The owner had excellent communication before our arrival and throughout our stay, giving us tips and tricks for getting around. I was really nervous about not using a mainstream hotel company but I was so happy! Really warm and quiet too!
This is a great place you must book at least one night if you are planning to stay in Rovaniemi, very nice treatment. The room was clean, good space and free parking lot. Breakfast is included, the bus stop to arrive from airport or train is exactly in front of the hotel. As it is well know you can arrive very easy and you if you book some tours it is located 10 mins from the center, tour operations can pick you at the hotel .
The services on all aspects provided by the hotel was exceptional. On our check-out day, which was very early morning, the hotel provided us -breakfast to go- since it was part of the booking conditions.
Another noticeable matter was how neatly the way the service was provided by the hotel management. We have asked for tissue paper and dental kit, and they brought it in a elegant peice of bage.
The hotel is in Santa Clause Village, location is perfect. You can visit all village and join many activities and you can go back to hotel by walking.
Rooms are fantastic with private sauna. Large and very comfy.
You should have dinner in the restaurant, really good dishes and friendly staff.
Breakfast has so many options including gluten free.
If you want to be in the heart of Rovaniemi, this building is exactly there. Close to the shops, restaurants, tourist agencies, etc when it’s cold that is important… no breakfast at the hotel itself but hostel Koti just across the street offers a basic but excellent price/quality breakfast that you can book via the hotel.
We had the family room with 2 separate bedrooms and 6 beds in total. It was very spacious and well appointed. It really did exceed my expectations. The hotel had fantastic amenities for kids and we happily spent a day here enjoying the hotel and didn't leave once.
It was just okay, nothing special at all. Not a 4 star hotel for sure, but not even 3. It is a 2,5 star hotel. Not modern at all. The food is just okay. Nothing special either. For this money it is just expensive.
The location was perfect to explore Rovaniemi and its sorroudings and the hotel was nice, clean and the food fine - we especially liked the breakfast served. We also appreciated that the hotel had a sauna.
excellent apartments, very well functioning and ideal for a family. the hotel offers excellent spa and play room for children - and with a rental car all offers in Rovaniemi can be reached in 15 min.
The hostel is 5km from the city centre (mind the last bus to come back to it leaves at 7pm from Rovaniemi centre), a nice spot to enjoy Finnish nature and northern lights.
A really great hotel to stay in Rovaniemi. A short walk to nature, a short walk to the city, a short walk to restaurants, a bus or an experience agency everywhere else.
Room was fantastic and atmospheric, especially with the Finnish folk background music the TV played. Hotel itself is very nice. Breakfast was great. Would recommend.
Really nice hotel, friendly staff at the desk, with kitchenette and private sauna in every room, delicious breakfast and walkable to Santa Claus Holiday Village
